Seventeen hikers headed to Sam’s Throne on a very warm and extremely windy morning.  The wind kept it comfortable enough to hike although at times it felt like it was going to blow us away.

We made it up the crack and back down safely with the help of Ed’s rope and Stephen’s monitoring our ascents and descents. Bryson handled hauling the backpacks up and down. He and Domanique carried their hammocks, strung them up and enjoyed a rest rocked by the wind during the lunch break.

There were several rock climbers on the bluffs and more campers than we have seen before.  Lots of people were out enjoying the warm, sunshiny February day. Five of our hikers had never been to Sam’s Throne.  It is always a joy to introduce others to the beautiful places we hike in Northwest Arkansas.
