The weather cooperated so the TrailBlazers had a second chance at the Cove Lake Loop hike.

Thirteen hikers began at the north entrance and left the loop trail to climb a fairly steep ridge to get a view of Mt. Magazine.  Slow and steady was the pace uphill with a much easier, faster pace for the trip back down.  Becky pronounced it 1/2 mile up and 1/4 mile down.  There were many small water crossings on the north shore. Bridges on the back side of the lake helped in the low land, but several times the ground turned to a black bog.  So...muddy boots!  The trail on the south side of the lake is characterized by some hills and more small water crossings which led to the camping area where we enjoyed our lunch.  We didn't linger over lunch as the wind got up a bit.  We made our way back to the cars by walking through the park, swim area and across the dam.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the hike and pleasant company. We were especially happy to have Tom back on the trail. We are hoping for more dry weekends as we head into the spring hiking season.
