Once again the TrailBlazers as well as lots of other people were treated to a new slide show by Tim Ernst at Grace Community Church. This program accompanied by music, was called Arkansas, In My Backyard and featured photos taken within a 10 mile radius of his cabin in scenic Cloudland.  Well, at least it started out to be 10 miles, then he found some interesting shots at 11 miles, and finally quit at 12 miles!

There were varied photos taken at different times of the year.  To mention a few, we saw a beautiful fox reflected in water, a young black bear with very long claws, starry skies, Boxley Valley Church by starlight, beautiful, wet colorful stones, and a unique photo of the first pair of trumpeter swans to take up residence in the pond in Boxley Valley.  If you want to know more, you simply must attend one of his upcoming programs in Fort Smith and other locations!  Afterward Tim answered some good questions about his photos and how he created them.

The TrailBlazers have hiked in several locations in his photos, and we have also taken pictures, but somehow our photos just don’t measure up!  Tim has the advantage over us because of his great equipment, infinite patience, willingness to go out and about regardless of time of day or weather conditions, his eye for framing up great pictures and his ability to make something extraordinary out of something ordinary as one of the attendees commented.  He challenged us to take photos in our own backyards but the problem is that probably none of us have a backyard quite as spectacular as his!

After the program we had drawings for four “Ernst Bucks” good for purchase of Tim’s books, calendars, DVDs, prints and other items that were on sale at discounted prices.  One of our very own TrailBlazers had a winning ticket but no rigging was involved because we had a very nice, honest young boy from the audience pick the tickets out of the pan!

 Great program!  Thank you, Tim!
