Nine TrailBlazers met at Lee Creek Recreation Area on a beautiful, winter afternoon to hike the Homestead, Cemetery Loop and Crack-in-the-Rock trail.
Hiking these trails has become our after-Thanksgiving tradition. Even though we have had little rain this fall, the creek and waterfalls were running. The lake did look very low. This area was settled in the 1800s and there are remnants from the past along the trails. The small cemetery has several graves. But, sadly, some headstones have been broken and are lying on the ground. These trails are a short drive from Fort Smith and Van Buren and are an excellent choice for an afternoon hike.
